Helston park - One of the local swans From being sold out of their set, three course meal to having delicious drinks. This small corner cafe, next to two of the best charity shops I have ever been in, is certainly a hidden gem within Helston. No names or location will be within this article as it was a magical experience to wander upon this cafe and have a great meal. It was unexpected and a lovely atmosphere. The set meals varied but all were well presented when it appeared from the kitchen from the waitressing to the food arrangement. The roast turkey was succulent, the gravy was subtle and not overwhelming the dish. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. the vegetables were clearly boiled, the carrots were kept sightly al dente, the green beans were soft and appetising. The peas, tasted like peas; sweet and green. The Scampi was crisp on the outside and lovely and moist on the inside, the taste on point with what you would expect. Having said that, the dessert was quite bad. The same desert, Chocolate Sundae was burnt and was inedible. To This  Today  Peas in picture 2 were not eaten (swallowed) and were pushed to the side with the scampi. There is a major difference in size of portions which might be equated to different chefs, or by the amount of people dining at this 'highly' recommended restaurant. Home to a military Base; Culdrose, it is considered to be a picture perfect town where tourists strive to visit. From petite petaled' flowers in hanging baskets to its ideal location, just a stones throw away from a gorgeous little beach Loe Bar. Starting the day with enthusiasm despite the growing grey sky above! At the Lossiemouth Community Centre on Sunday the 14th of May, Crafters from over the moray area attended the event their stalls set up within one of the sports halls at the high school. From Soap to handmade silver jewellery there was a large variety of crafts. Many cakes and bakes were donated to help with fundraising. They also had a small tent outside and next to it was the hot food stall where a hog roast was done from 11 onwards for the day. The event ended at 1. As the day went on it brightened supplying periods of the radiant sun which were intermittent between torrential rain. Many of the crafters had been crafting for over 3 to 4 years. A dram of spirit in every glass! Kickstarted the right way. A Highland Celebration of heritage and history. A dram in each hand and a hearty smile. The whisky festival began with a bang! Whisky tours on for most distilleries for the festival almost every hour, some of the more specialised tours were booked far before Christmas and were twice a day. Along with some art exhibitions. With 91 thousand pounds worth of tickets being sold within the first hour of sales, it was obvious that the festival would have plenty of attention. With people coming from over 20 different countries to participate in Tastings to the local events. Article by Jane Stone This Sidings cafe is located in two train cars which are leased; at the Dufftown Railway (which is run by volunteers, some of which are there 4 days a week to help keep this part of Scottish Heritage open). The two carriages used for the café were made roughly in 1950's; and through the commitment of volunteers, the upkeep has been maintained over the years.                                                                                         A little bit of History The train station in Dufftown has been there for a great deal of time, being re-opened to the public, operated entirely by volunteers, in 2000 and 2001.
