Long Distance Relationships:1

Long distance relationships, whether your definition is 40 minutes down the road to half way around the world quite a lot of people have had one.

You could argue that long distance relationships have increased over the years with the growth of technology and new innovative ways to keep in touch compared to the last century. Though within the last World War of which shook the planet where a large percentage of men were sent overseas away from their loved ones creating a long distance relationship, and for many the end of their relationships.

Where telegraph and letter were used back then, they have since been outdated with the invention of email on the computer and mobile phones. Even newer inventions to being Skype and other online terminals for communication. Not to say that the letter being outdated means no one uses it, far from it many people share cards and letters with friends and loved ones on occasions such as birthdays or when they wish to keep communication special when they are very far away; but with a downside of the letter still having a chance of being lost many people prefer other alternatives with the latest technology at their disposal.

There are many ways to keep in contact many being linked by the wifi, available to such a large majority of people that it is seen as common place a large percentage of everyday tasks revolving around it for many. So to say that WiFi is common place, it's still not everywhere; 3G and 4G are common replacements, sold on their own or placed in packages for phone deals and contracts. So many people can use this to help aid in long-distance communication within everyday life and relationships.

Sometimes times can get hard and the people we love are too far away and only a voice on the other end of the line, a phone call in the evening before going to sleep. A piece of familiarity that can help make you feel better. And sometimes a hug is all you want because it's one of the best types of medicine.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship myself; we have access to mobile phones and Skype but even then it can still get quite hard. We call when we can and sometimes one or both of us is too tired to talk. His family live in my area, but to say things are tough is an understatement; his parents are the loveliest people you could ever meet, though as you can guess there is sometimes other close members of the family. I enjoy writing letters, though occasionally they never get to him.

Saying he is one of the most important people in my life is a little like an understatement, he is my partner and teammate and even though it's long distance; it won't be forever.

Article by Jane Stone Food; is it something we take for granted, something we expect to have because of it being vital to living? I'm sure a lot of people remember the 'saying waste not want not' or 'children in poor countries would love to have a small portion of what you have, many of them don't even get that much'.                                                                    Picture from Moray FoodBank Facebook Page But we are missing what should be a problem being dealt with; that people from our country, one of the richest in the world has people homeless and hungry on our streets, some living in homes with no spare income for food. The food banks were introduced to help solve this problem; but surely the Food Bank should be a short term fix, helping people temporarily until they are able to supp...

The Heli Appeal

The Cornwall Air Ambulance after thorough planning and preparation announced, on 24th April of this year, the New Heli Appeal. This appeals goal is to raise funds to bring the next generation of helicopters to Cornwall.  The AW169; how is this an improvement? Well let's get started. It has a greater range; the fuel consumption is half what the current helicopter uses so that means more air time compared to refuelling, allowing the helicopter to reach patients take them to hospital and then be able to fly right back out again to the next emergency. The engines are more powerful, so it can carry more equipment; as it stands the two Air Ambulance Helicopters, one has the equipment for flying to the isles of Scilly the other does not. With the added space the equipment can be kept on the AW169 so that the crew, if they are needed on isles of Scilly, whether flying back from a hospital or from the base, they can go straight to the patient without having to transfer or use th...
